I setup a simple replication database for one of my clients that uses both Oracle 7 and Oracle 8 on AIX 4.something. The Oracle 7 database replicated to the Oracle 8 database. It was pretty easy to build, but there were some quirky things with fast refreshes in a 7->8 configuration. Sometimes snapshots that were setup to refresh as fast refreshed as complete. Never did figure that one out. I did not use replication manager, but did it all "by hand". I had pretty good experiences with it...
