Hi!

A group I'm working with is new to searching text fields in Oracle(8i):

Can someone provide any insight on the best ways to provide search capabilities on text fields in Oracle?

I read a reference to the ConText cartridge...we have no experience in this area. Can anyone provide us with some pointers, experience?

For example:
Given a varchar2 field / free text, what are the implementation and performance/ConText indexing areas involved? What are the various tuning options (hw and server related) to the 'text field search capabilities' in question. Given: (To keep it simple): One table, two fields: primary key, and text field.

Any input would be appreciated. References, examples, good and bad experiences, opinions for/against, opinions on utilization of soundex features....etc...

....much appreciated....
Thanks,
