Oracle 8i and Enterprise Manager 2.04 - ora-12638 - credential retrieval failed

    Has anyone heard of a conflict between Net8 8.1.5 and Net8 8.04? After installing Enterprise Manager 2.04 (In a different home than 8.1.5 client), I cannot connect to the database with anything using Net8 8.1.5 (ODBC driver, SQL*PLUS). I can connect with programs from the Enterprise Manager home (Instance Manager and the like, Older version of SQL*PLUS). Enterprise manager uses Net8 version 8.04.

    I get the message ora-12638 - Credential Retrieval failed. The documentation has the message and says the way to solve the problem is to enable tracing to find the problem. I looked at the trace and saw that the problem occured when it was expecting 2048 bytes and got something like 27 bytes instead - a real big help (not).

    Any suggestions?
