Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> can't get sqlplus/cman connection! HELP!
I am trying to get a java applet to make a connection through CMAN...but
am having problems
I think I have the cman process running... I can do a "cmctl status" and it says the appropriate processes are running.
To trouble shoot , I am trying to establish that I can make a sqlplus connection through cman......I set up a tnsnames.ora entry for both a direct connection to the database, and for a connection through cman, BUT when I try to execute the sqlplus process (either direct or through cman) I get back "Oracle not available" ..... the box I am trying this from does not have a database installed.... instead I just installed the basic libraries and tools from the regular oracle install (sqlplus etc..)
What does a person have to do to get a sqlplus connecton from one server to the database server? I just need sqlplus and a tnsnames.ora entry right? OR do I have to have listner going on the remote box too??
please post or email me at kwiateks_at_juno.com
Any and all help is appreciated!
thanks!
Keith
