HELP: node with pre-2.3 version of SQL*Net ???

hello,

I have an oracle database server. when I do "lsnrctl version" it says 8.0.5....

I have some of the oracle libraries and client utilites installed on another server (version 8.0.5).

When I try to do a "trcroute <service_name>" from the client, I get : TNS-03603: Encountered a node with pre-2.3 version of SQL*Net

I thought oracle 8 uses only net8 -- does it even have sqlnet as an option? If I have an 8.0.5 server installed, why would I get this message?

HOW DO I DETERMINE IF I AM RUNNING NET8 OR SQLNET? Please post or email me at kwiateks_at_juno.com Thanks
