I have a vague recollection of hearing that, due to the way the linux
operating system cached data, that redo logs aren't necessarily physically
written to immediately, which could make recovery difficult.
OTOH I use linux and 8.0.5 at home just to learn since we're on version 7 at work, and I am amazed at how stable it is.
