Hello,
I am currently experiencing the following issue: I have to install two software programs on the same Unix box. One is officialy compatible with version 8.1.5 of Oracle Server; The other only supports running on Oracle version 8.0.4. Is this possible to have two instances of Oracle running on the same node, each being run on
a specific DBMS system (two installations of Oracle each having its own separate filesystem)?
If yes, what are the performance issues (I guess that the coexistence of two Oracle DMS systems will
eat more memory ressources than if only one Oracle install has to service both instances (eg. shared libraries)).

Is this possible to only have version 8.1.5 and set the COMPATIBILITY configure option for the instance supporting the "8.0.4 only" software to 8.0.4?

Thank you for any help. Received on Thu May 27 1999 - 18:04:30 CDT
