Oracle & NT login problem

Hi

I want to connect to an Oracle Server (7.3.4 and 8) running on Windows NT. The problem I have is that if I don't have a valid NT user account on the Oracle Server I cannot login to any Oracle database on that server. If I login to a client with a user id known also to the NT-Oracle Server I can connect to all databases. We are not running an NT domain.

Is there a way to configure Oracle so it does not require NT authentication? In other word, I want to login to a database on that server using Oracle user and password regardless of what network account I'm using to login to my client PC.

Thanks
