Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Startup MOUNT 8.0.5 database with Failsafe 2.1.3 on NT4/SP4
I'm trying to switch my Failsafe Database (NT4/SP4, 8.0.5 and Failsafe
2.1.3) from
NOARCHIVELOG to ARCHIVELOG mode. Normally all
startup/shutdown (take online/offline) operations
should be submitted from Failsafe Manager.
BUT: How do I get my DB in a MOUNT state? This is
not possible from OFS Manager (no function for
this). When I try from SVRMGR30.EXE or Instance
Manager, I always get
"..end-of-communication-channel..." or "TNS Packet
writer failure" when trying SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE.
SHUTDOWN ABORT works, but then when starting (in MOUNT) it either has performed failover or already started the DB (and opened it)!
WHAT IS THE IDEA HERE?
I've studied the "Oracle Fail Safe Concepts and
Administration" doc. etc. but found nothing on this
subject (general adm. of DB, eg. MOUNT state in
order to perform misc. tasks).
Has anyone ideas on this? Thanks in advance!
Kind regards
