Also, keep in mind that getting your database in Boyce-Codd Normal Form tends to be better in theory than in practice. Rules of normalization are often violated intentionally in database design for practical performance gains. This also explains the advent of datawarehousing. Normalization (complete) is good for OLTP exclusive systems, but not neccessarily when there's any OLAP.
