Most likely cause: too few redo log groups. The alert you're seeing is a warning, not an error. The message was put in the alert log because Oracle had to wait for the file to be ready. If you have more redo log groups, you'll minimize the chance that this will happen.

This message is commonly seen during high I/O activity in databases with 3 or fewer redo log groups.
