Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Performance problems on ALPHA
Hi,
At Kluwer Academic Publisher we used to have a client-server archtecture where a Digital Vax would be the client with cobol & embedded SQl would run. The database is on on ALPHA with open/VMS 7.1 RDBMS version 7.3.3.6 (The latest version i think. Especially while running the night batch we encountered big performance problems. Some programs ran more than 24 hours. The solution we choose, and which ORACLE also recommended, was to migrate all the software to the database server. The problem we now encounter is that connect online takes a lot of time and in most case takes up 3 to 4 times longer than in the original client-server architecture.
Has anybody encountered the same problems ? Is there a simple solution ?
Thanks in advance ! If you need more info, don't hesitate to ask :-)
With friendly regards.
