Your DBA probably meant RAID5. Redo logs are constantly written to in
sequential mode. RAID5 is slower for writes that regular disk configuration.
However, for fault tolerance redo logs should be placed on RAID 0+1 which is
mirrored disk. This configuration is faster than RAID5 but still as reliable.
