Just reading the original post, I'm wondering why you are settling on RAID 5 as the RAID option? If the original config was mirroring the drives anyway, why not buy a new battery backup HD controller that supports hot swaps and put all four drives on RAID1. That way you get decent write, excellent read, online disc rebuilds should one go bad, and that only downfall is if the controller card itself goes South. This way also you can guarantee that the control and redo log files are mirrored on different discs (something RAID5 can't guarantee).
