Please need help. ORACLE 7.

I've installed Oracle7 on an NT Server and everything went fine. I used it for a while and found no problems. Then I had to reboot the server and when it went back on-line my Oracle Server would not start. I got a message saying that 'sga could not be started' or something like that. Then I removed the installation and installed it all over again. The strange thing is that during the installation procedure I was prompted for a Oracle sid password. As I don't know what that is, I just pressed enter and some messages appeared. Then the installation continued and everything seemed fine. But after the installation, I opened Sql*Plus and got the following message 'OracleService(SID) has not been started'. Can anyone tell me what's going on?
