Yes, typically performance is 20-30% better with RAW devices than filesystem files and cooked devices being OSYNC'd. Performance is only about 5-10% better than filesystem without OSYNC and that is where the myth that RAW is not much better than COOKED comes from. However, no self respecting database server would risk running on COOKED disk without OSYNCing.
