Hi,

I have just done my first oracle install - so if this reads like a newbie - that cuz it is.

Installing 7.3.4.0 on Solaris 2.6 on Ultra5 with 256Mb Ram

I used the installer (motif) version and went for a custom install and selected just the RDBMS products - didnt want any of the extra prog lang support, jdbc etc ulntil I know what they all do and whether I need them.

Selected create database option and it went ahead and seemed to install all the products but then bombed out with a database creation error - the log shows the following:

>>> Leaving plsql.ins

So I then tried to use the installer to create the database object (which is one of the other install options avaialbe) and got the same.

Pls can someone offer some advise as to what is going wrong? thanks in advance
shin
