Hi all, I am confronting a peculiar error while installing Oracle 8.0.4 in
Windows NT server(enterprise edition). When I am trying to create a brand a
new database through database assistant, I get the program aborted because it
says "Unable to connect to destination"-- a TNS error. The database assistant
actually asked me if I need to add the sid name to the tnsnames.ora , I said
yes. I thought it should create the entry, but that is the error that i am
getting. I tried to use the oradim80 utility , but after i set the ORACLE_SID
and then tried to go to svrmgr30, it said the same error and therefore I
could not start running the modified build_db.sql. I tried using many
alternatives through various options in the database assistant, every time I
came down to the same error message. THis is very urgent now. I would
appreciate every help. Thanks in advance,
