Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Listener and snmp problems
Hi out there,
Oracle headaches
I've got a single database and instance running on a Sun SPARC 2.5. (Oracle 7.3.4.0.1).
I can't seem to get a listener started properly. Here are some of the things that I have tried and the errors I am receiving:
% lsnrctl
LSNRCTL> start orac (instance SID)
... some connection info...
Alias orac
Trace Level OFF Security OFF SNMP OFF ... some file names
LSNRCTL> dbsnmp_start
DBSNMP Discovery Error: Multiple Listeners found for SID orac. (This one is a complete mystery to me.)
SO THEN I Ran some STatus checks:
LSNRCTL> status
TNS-12224: TNS:no listener TNS-12541: TNS:no listener TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error TNS-00511: No listener Solaris Error: 2: No such file or directory
LSNRCTL> dbsnmp_status
The db subagent is already running
So I:
LSNRCTL> dbsnmp_stop
I verified the processes, there's nothing there for dbsnmp
LSNRCTL> dbsnmp_status
The db subagent is not started
LSNRCTL> dbsnmp_start
DBSNMP Discovery Error: Multiple Listeners found for SID orac
Any ideas? I'm certain that there must be something wrong with the configuration files (listener.ora, sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora). I am particularly curious about that protocol adapter error. Any thoughts? I appreciate any assistance.
