Dear Oracle (fellow) Abusers,

Do you feel the need to become Oracle Certified?

Everyone else (Microsoft/Powerbuilder/Java ... weenies) is doing it. Are we special enough that we can avoid spending our hard earned dollars (currency) on a silly piece of paper so that we sign our documents:

                Joe Blow
                Certified Oracle DBA

I see the certification and just another management money hole. The way I understand it, Oracle had a certification program. Then they replaced it with the "Masters" program which never tested you with brains but with $$$. Now, after a third party institution makes a little success with certification, Oracle re-instates certification (4 different tests).

Any of you who are certified - has it really helped? My wife is a certified Powerbuilder Developer and claims that it is very important in her industry. I have been working in this industry for four years. Do I need this (my wife thinks I'm certifiable ... another story for another newsgroup)?

SCott
