Hello

We will be most likely using Oracle DB for a web commerce application. This system will have potentially one million users and 250,000 of them can be logged to this site at one time. My questions are:

(1) Can Oracle on UNIX handle this many hits at one time?

(2) It seems to me that the best solution would be to have a distributed
system. Since I have experience with CORBA, I'm proposing this as part of the solution to my group. However, distributed objects would be useless if all objects have to obtain data from one source. Can replication be effective in this scheme?

(3) I have looked at Oracle Application Server and I have noticed that
it's CORBA and Java compliant. I would love to hear your experiences regarding this product. I assume the integration with Oracle DB should be extremely smooth.

Thanks in advance. Received on Fri Jul 10 1998 - 14:10:21 CDT
