If you have yet to install Oracle 8 on Solaris, I have only one thing to say!

DONT! The current release is so full of bugs, that apparently are "known" but "unpublished"
that it is completely unusable! I've got a production system where users are
being cut off every few transactions, and an instance that crashes every few hours!
These are bugs that may not show up in a low volume test database.

All Oracle will give me for hope is that the "current" bugs I'm finding will be
fixed in a patch - that they're not going to release until the 10th at best!
God only knows what "bugs" I'm going to find after -this- hurdle! And good luck getting information on those "unpublished" bugs from Oracle support - it will be a two day fight to get them to acknowledge whatever your current problem is, and they are fiercely protective of any other information about problems you may hit next.

IF YOU RUN SOLARIS, AVOID ORACLE 8 FOR NOW! Received on Mon Jul 06 1998 - 11:50:11 CDT
