Thanks, Steve. Hmm. I may consider that. I've exported all the data that was salvageable (anything from the SYSTEM tablespace which in their case included a good portion of user data). The USER_DATA tablespace still cannot be opened. Tomorrow we'll look to see if they have a good complete full cold backup (I'm not confident that they do).
Please write back with details (rates, timeframe, etc.). My company is trying to get a project to revamp their obviously fragile and outmoded system, and a maintenance contract, so we want to come across well with them.
