HELP...AIX re-install errors!

In trying to re-install Oracle 7.2.3, it appears that links to the cdrom are not being set up correctly. We are getting: "write error occurred trying to move from olink to /oracle/guicommon2/tk21/admin/AFM/Desktop [read-only environment]" Investigation shows this "file" is a link to the cdrom! We've seen the error on different files depending on what S/W we are trying to re-install. Has anyone encountered this before? Any help appreciated!
