Be sure and add up the requirements for both instances wrt kernel modifications and SGA calculations. Depending on what kind of testing you will be doing, you may want to keep the SGA for it real small to leave system resources for the production database. If you will be doing performance testing, don't do that of course. Don't use more than half physical memory for both SGA's, or one good SQL could bring solaris to it's knees.
