Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Oracle8 Instance Auto-shutdown
I'm currently running Oracle 8.0.3 on a Windows NT Server with service
pack 3.
I recently experience a similar crash. While running several deletes and
inserts
on the database with an application I wrote in Pro C I ran into an error
(which resulted from the data I was using). As a result of the error the
Oracle instance
shutdown. I was able to bring the instance backup with svrmgrl using the
force
keyword of startup. But I was unable to do a normal shutdown immediate/
startup open until I rebooted my server. Once the database was up I
noticed that all of the
rollback segments had been placed offline. I'm new to Oracle and
surprised by
its behavior. Can anyone provide an explanation ??
