Well, Peter, which do you want? I wouldn't call C++ compact or Java trustworthy. How many times has the JVM in your browser crashed lately?

OTOH, I have plenty of production stuff in PERL and have had zero, yes zero instances in recent memory where a Perl program "crashed".

I second that. While I have not (yet) used perl with Informix, I have used it in many other circumstances, including CGI and Oracle development. I don't EVER recall perl crashing. I've been using it for 5 years, and can't remember it crashing ONCE for any reason other than programmer error. That's better than I can say for any operating system I've ever used.
