Hi,

Running into trouble on NT 3.51 using Oracle 7.2.2 error messages as follows:
ORA-1172 recovery of thread 1 stuck at block 522 of file 5 ORA-1151 use media recovery to recover block, restore backup if needed.

    We are running noarchivelog mode.
This set of errors come up whenever the database is mounted.     Startup recover does not. Have not been able to look at v$datafile and v$recover_file.

Can connect as internal in SQLDBA but, once any command is issued (including the references to v$datafile, etc.), we get...

DBA-342 unable to complete internal login
ORA-1034 ORACLE not available.
ORA-9243 smsget: error attaching to SGA
OSD-4101 invalid SGA: SGA not initialized.

Short course: Is this DB toast? Time to checkout how good my backups are? If so, why? Event logs do have references to running close on disk space. But, 1.2G left on 12G system seems okay. Needs contiguous? Could this be fractured that much?

Long course: Is there anyway (but to guess) which file is '5'? Does this refer to rollback segment 5?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Greg Received on Wed Apr 08 1998 - 17:06:06 CDT
