Hi Vaughan,

By any chance was your system rebooted just before the problem recurred? The reason I ask is that we run 24x7 except for Sunday nights when all of our systems are rebooted. Every Monday morning when I come in I have to restart something that the operator forgot.

Another thing to look for is "outside interference", for example, several years ago the company I was working for installed a system in a situation where the computer was in one building and two terminals were located across the street. We couldn't run a direct connect and this was in the days before economical microwave so we used modems. Every morning we would get a call from the customer reporting that they couldn't access the system. After much hair pulling it turned out that the problem was caused by the switchboard operator disconnecting the modem lines when she shut down for the night. Might you have some similar external factor that can impact your network connections.

Regards

Jerry
