Some tools makers are offering "log sniffer" replication. The examine the redo logs as they are emitted by the server and extract transaction info from them, then apply the desired transactions to the target instance. I have no first hand experience with these tools, but the ought to be relatively fast, with minimal overhead and fairly high currency. Quest software offers such a tool, www.quests.com.
