As long as you go to 8.0.4 you should be fine, the are a few replication problems with 8.0.3 (especially with some of the new snapshot functionality). Most bug activitly in the multi master environment seems to be with the new features like replicated LOB's and a few issues with conflict handling. Generally Oracle8 seems to be just as stable as 7.3 for the core functionality.

I would recommend performing extensive testing of the migration path for you system, Oracle8 replication uses a different security model and the deferred queuing now uses advanced queues.
