Exactly which files did you backup when you did the hot backup?
Which files did you recover?


Did you force an archive log switch after the backup was complete?
Did you recover the archived redo logs that were present DURING the
hot backup? If so, this may be why you didn't recover the data you
wanted to, although I'd think youd generate an error..
