scan and sort in parallel query - no sga cache

hi there,

what kinds of parallel queries bypass the SGA - i was told that in oracle 7 many of the parallel query processes ( SCAN and SORT ) that get started do not necessarily cache their data in the SGA ( especially large queries )

this is for a DW workload - so polluting the SGA with large table scans is a good idea

thx for any help/explanation
