Re: intelligent agent

We had some of the same problems. We had the agent running on NT3.51, ORACLE 7.3.3. We currently cannot open the Agent service from the control panel. Oracle support has been no help. We have gone as far as entering the registry to eliminate the AGENT and reinstalling. Same problem. The messages say "ORACLE Agent failed to initialize its connection cache" and "ERROR 17: The system could not move the files to a different drive" It took a month before ORACLE even determined what connection cache was (the communication buffer utilized by the AGENT) and where it was located (In the page file was their last guess.)

I have got to the point where I will be reinstalling ORACLE next week, but fear I may have to reinstall NT also. The product appears to be long on promise but short on implementation. My biggest mistake, one which I will learn from, was assuming the promises were valid when planning the remote implementation of this server. Sorry for the diatribe but the frustration level is getting very high on this product.
