ODBC Driver Selection

My organisation is relatively new to Oracle and is developing applications using Oracle for the back end data server and Microsoft Access as the front end client tool.

The connection from Microsoft Access to an Oracle data server is achieved through a 16 bit SQL*Net and a 16 bit ODBC driver.

I would welcome any advice on the choice of ODBC driver that my organisation should use. It is considered that the following issues are important when making such a decision:-

  1. Ability of the driver to provide meaningful error messages when an error occurs to allow diagnosis of problems.
  2. The driver to have a high level of compliance ie Level 2 or 3, and provide a high level of SQL support, ie core or extended.
  3. Ability of the driver to provide very reliable operation on a range of 75 MHz PCs and 200 MHz PCs.
  4. Ability for the driver to return results sets as quickly as possible.

Thanks
