Becky is right on the nose.


I've written plenty of Pro*C programs to do data loading on a UNIX
platform. You can do array processing to really speed things up (read a
large block of records from the flat file, validating them as they come in,
then write them all into the database).


We loaded some 30 million rows in about 20 minutes.
