The presence of large numbers of waits for these events is not a problem, however, the average time waited may be. For example, the 'db file sequential read' waits should be less than 2 hundredths of a second on most disk subsystems.

The unit is hundredths of a second. The paper on v$session_wait available at OraPub (http://www.europa.com/~orapub) claims that the unit is milliseconds, which is wrong (unless it has been corrected since I last looked).
