FYI
connect internal over a non secure protocol (should/must) be password
protected. bequeath (and v1 pipes) and a small number of other protocols
can be considered secure. between versions it is simpler to go through the
listener (ie use tcp v2 ) and the connect internal password utility.
[in part due to ORACLE_HOME considerations]
on non unix operating systems thhis may not apply
