I have done this in the past with no problems. Just remember that you are adding more variables (and points of failures) to the process. If you have a GOOD network and NFS is not a big deal with your Sys Admins (you will need their help, more than before), I do not see any problems. We had also created data files on the disks borrowed (NFS mounts) from other servers without any problems. All this was done using HP-UX 9.04 on HP 700 series and DG-UX 4.11 on Aviion series machines running Oracle 7.1.x. Oracle Corp may not like this setup, but that's their opinion. I did not have any other choice at the time but to utilize all my resources to solve my business problems. Good Luck.
