Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> NT: how to create alias with script?
NT 7.3.2.2.1 Workgroup Server and NT-Clients.
I have to write a setup program to automatically install a financial application. For this I have to create a new TCP-alias with SQL- -Easy-config. In Unix environment this is done by editing tnsnames.ora but this is not allowed in Windows NT. There is an explicit warning in the file and Oracle told me not to handle it this way.
When I am doing it this way the connection from the net works perfectly, but when I am starting SQL-Net-Easy-config the next time my there is a messagebox telling the user that someone manipulated tnsnames.ora; my alias is destroyed no matter what I do.
Calling customer support they told me to use "names". I installed names server which is a part of "sql net v2" but I don't have a clou what to do with it...
Who can give me a hint? Please also cc: to me. Thank you very much from Nuernberg, Germany
