Hello,

I got further than I was: I can now get into Oracle from any account on the machine it is running on. The original problem was some SUID bits not being set on executables.

Now I have the /oracle directory nfs mounted to another machine and am trying to run sqlplus from there.

This is the error I get now:

ERROR: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-07429: smsgsg: shmget() failed to get segment. SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory

Also, can someone explain to me how tnsping works?
