Why should it be a problem ? In fact, ORACLE is not "net aware by default" - one has to configure SQL/Net for that .
You'd still need it configured probably if you'd want to use anything but svrmgr(m|l) and sqlplus even on the same computer, but then again, the server itself won't have to be networked.
