Well, I do not agree with what Steve said about the redo log files in the hot backup. Having them there will HURT your recovery if you want to apply the archive logs which had generated after the hot backup being done. Because the recovery process will check the online redo log first so keep the old redo logs in your hot backup will NOT help the recovery to the point-of-time with archive logs.
