while monitoring locks on a 7.3.3 database i noticed that - when i execute a statement "update dept where dept_id = 1" and one record gets updated the lock monitor in Server Manager shows two lines . I gathered that one is a Row Exclusive Lock on the dept table and the other is a Exclusive Lock. Does anybody know what the second line is all about?
