Informix and Oracle in the same shop

Hi,

I was wondering if any one has experience of Informix and Oracle systems in the same shop, where data is transferred between the two databases on a regular basis.

I am currently in an Oracle shop where by we are 100% reliant upon Oracle DBMS ( v7.x ), but Informix would like to try and get a foot in the door. 99% of the Oracle databases are running on HP kit so this is another issue.

The chances are that we will be running Oracle as the OLTP system and Informix as the DW system, which might then get read by an Oracle Express MDB system. However, past history has also shown that we might try and give resilience to the OLTP system by bring in Informix as a secondary database to our OLTP system giving resilience at the database level. Has anyone actually done two phase commit ( X/Open ) between the two databases?

I don't get much chance to look at the News Group forums, since we do not have access to them outside of the corporate firewall, but I will try and keep an eye on things for the next week or so. Alternatively, you could contact me through the E-Mail address mailto:andrewb_at_mail.com

TIA
