SQL*Net V1 and SQL*Net V2

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a connection between an Oracle client with SQL Net V1 and a server working with SQL Net V2?

Our server - it's Oracle 7.3 for AIX - supports only SQL NET V2 and the additional installation of the old SQL Net, for instance from Oracle 7.1. This seems to be entirely impossible. Unfortunatly our client application demands SQL Net V1.
