Um, Pro*COBOL is about as easy as it gets. It's not too tough to use, really. Just define some variables and execute some EXEC SQL statements. Just like any other Oracle precompiler language.
We have had some problems with Micro Focus COBOL on the HP, DEC and AIX platforms, but nothing really out of the ordinary. We haven't really run into any major bugs, either. Pro*COBOL is still a very viable solution, especially if you have legacy programs you need to convert to Oracle or to the UNIX environment. If you're starting from scratch, C/C++ is probably a better choice.
