Exports From VAX to UNIX via Tape

In the ICG for UNIX there is some info about exporting from VAX to UNIX. It refers to using the RECORDLENGTH parameter. However, I am wondering about exporting from VAX to tape and then importing off that tape to UNIX. Is this possible? Are there other parameters to be concerned with?

The database is about 20 GIG, so it would be great to be able to put the export file on tape and import it. Otherwise, I think we are looking at FTP'ing the file.
