IIRC you'll need at least a 10.2.0.3 Client if you are using Win2008Srv.

For Win2008x64 Oracle recommends this Client (10.2.0.4): http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10204_winx64_vista_win2k8.html
