Because both server and client run on Linux platform but application requires ODBC.

Not mentioning that ODBC driver on Linux for 10g exist as commercial (eg. EasySoft which works fine) but seems that Oracle delivers also driver for Linux. Indeed even if MS != Linux.
--> should be a sufficient acceptance of feasibility.
